What is PINTRA?
Scar Reduction & Anti-Aging
During a Pintra treatment we utilize radio frequency (RF) as the energy source.
Each pulse delivers the RF energy via a grid of dots and spaces. This induces a controlled “fractionalized” skin injury which is maximized in these tiny, targeted zones creating channels of damage deeper in the tissue. Fibroblasts activated within the channels signal collagen to regenerate and remodel, yielding improved skin tone and texture overall. Meanwhile, the surrounding “untreated” tissue then helps to support and accelerate the healing process in the skin.
Radio frequency (RF) is generated and modulated so quickly that the modulations (back and forth movement) creates friction which in turn creates heat. As you can see by the treatment device, the tiny dots are where the RF is delivered to the skin. The tiny dots deliver the controlled amount of RF to the tissue.
As a treatment progresses, depending on the indication, we usually increase the RF modulation for a deeper and more effective treatment. We are cautious with your first treatment to identify your skin’s tolerance to the treatment.
Our treatment protocol is progressive, each treatment in a series being stronger, therefore more effective.
We also have second hand held device. This device utilizes micro-needling RF. Small needles deliver the RF in a slightly different way for an even more effective treatment for deep lines and scars.
IS IT PAINFUL?
The treatment can be uncomfortable, but mostly tolerable. We can, when we get to that point in your series, use a topical anesthetic prior to the treatment for 30 minutes.
FREQUENCY OF TREATMENT
We recommend anywhere from one week intervals up to no more than 4 week intervals. Even during your series, we may start out at 4 week intervals and increase treatments to every one, two or three weeks. Again, it all depends on indications. Also, during a visit, we may repeat the treatment in one given area and not another. This is based on each client’s particular skin condition and indication. We may use the two different modalities – Fractional RF and Micro-Needle RF – during one treatment session. We recommend a series of 8*.
Expected side effects are some redness and heat with possible swelling after the treatment that lasts from hours to days, and occasionally even up to a week or beyond (very unusual). That is why your first treatment is milder than the rest and we step up to more intensity with each visit. On very rare occasions, a client may develop hives or fever blisters, but again, that is very rare.
Tiny crusts may develop and could be present for about 3-14 days, but these are easy to camouflage with makeup. Your skin may have a dry, micro-crusty feeling. Usually the tiny crusts are not visible to others. You will feel them more than anything. We also recommend exfoliation to help remove the tiny crusts and help smooth the skin.
Results will develop over time and with subsequent treatments. You can expect a noticeable reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scarring as well as other scarring. In addition, you will see an improvement in texture and skin laxity. On average, most results appear over a period of three to six months following the last treatment – we recommend at least a series of 8*. It takes time for collagen to grow. Some clients will feel a tightness in the deeper tissue immediately after treatment. Maintenance treatments may be necessary.
*a 15% discount on treatments will be given for pre-purchase of the series
